Nighttime gale
05 August 2017 | Port Austin
Sunny. Gale force winds slowly subsiding.
After I went to sleep last night, I woke up to a very different boat motion and noise. The wind was blowing from behind and off the dock with such force that the critical dock lines were bar tight and never slacked off. The boat could not bounce or heel, the wind was so strong. There were small waves and whitecaps running through the harbor, with the wavelets smashing up on the docks. The harbor was churning. Later I added an additional thicker line to help the two lines taking the brunt of the load. Not a restful night.
In other news ... the Farmers Market was nice. Included a craft fair and country band.
