Bass Island
10 August 2017 | South Bass Island
El 572. Sunny and warm.
I left Detroit early this morning. I hadn't even left the wall when there was a beeping just like when the autopilot would break. C'mon, I thought. I haven't even left yet - how could it be broken? Turned out it was something else and all is well. I got my self steering boat back!
Lake Erie has water quality issues. A large part of the lake is shallow and looked like the blog picture.
I am back with Roger and Tari. We mapped out our stops to the Erie Canal. Now the trip feels different. This isn't just a vacation anymore.
If we had time, South Bass Island seems like a great place to spend a day. There is even a bay of anchor balls, where someone collects money for your stay. They also have a water taxi. Another day.
