Sailboat caravan

31 August 2017 | Waterford
Cloudy with sprinkles, then sunny and warm
We started out with breakfast at a local favorite restaurant. We went because the prices were quite cheap. Even with my omelet, the total bill for all four breakfasts was $20. After breakfast, we saw Ron off.

Today was scrub the boat day. There was only one faucet, so I got the second shift after Roger and Tari scrubbed their boat. Then Tari went to the laundromat and took care of my sheets and towel for me while I scrubbed my boat and washed the blue top sides and fender covers.

The rest of the sailboat caravan arrived today. With masts overhanging and almost overlapping, we squeezed everybody onto the wall. There are five boats in the picture. They had been loosely traveling with the boat Gabriel, whom we met last night. While scrubbing the lock mud off my boat, I heard someone call out, "Hey Waukegan". One of the boats used to dock in Waukegan on the fixed docks on the north side.

We are working on finding a place and date to step our masts (putting the mast back upright where it belongs). My original place is not being very responsive. Maybe I needed to call earlier. I made contact with them early in the year, but not recently. Others are using Riverside Marine. So we are going to call there tomorrow. We would like to stay here tomorrow, but technically, the limit is 48 hours. Others also want to stay. We will see. On of the boats has offered to host all of us tomorrow for drinks and tips on traveling down the Hudson River.
