Mast up - long day
02 September 2017 | Riverview Marine Services
Sunny. Warm and calm, but very cold this morning
Both boats got their masts up. It took longer than expected. Paradise Hunter has a complicated rig with no backstay and this was their first time rigging the mast. I had some projects I wanted done and somehow I was slow as usual. But I did get the improvements I wanted, including a new, proper sailboat mast antenna. Some of the woodwork down below got damaged when the mast was lowered into the boat, but the boat will survive.
The genoa is on and the middle solar panel was installed in the dark after dinner (so that it was not alive electrically). I still have work to do with the mainsail, vang and stack pack. Tomorrow is a rain day courtesy of Harvey, so not sure how much will get done. We are planning to stay here another day. The folks here are extremely friendly and helpful. If you can make it in. Boats regularly get stuck trying to get in the harbor.
