Take a letter, Maria ... battery monitor installed!
27 September 2017 | Annapolis
Sunny and warm. Some wind in the morning from the north.
The blog photo shows the weather reason for staying in the northern Chesapeake. I am at the blue circle near the top. The bottom of the Chesapeake where I would enter the ocean is the red circle. The further south you go, the bigger the hurricane impact and the worse the weather. The pink stuff near the red circle are gale warnings. But the time is coming when I will leave Annapolis and start heading south. Soon, but not tomorrow.
Roger looked at places to anchor in the area. Nothing is as nice as where he is. His mooring ball is available during the boat show, mine is not. So he is planning on staying for the boat show. The mooring is seven days for the price of six, at $35/day. He is still looking into solar and dinghy davits. He may do what my brother did and put flexible panels on his bimini.
The new batteries are working out well for Roger and Tari. If only he had his battery monitor installed so he always knew the exact battery voltage and knew how much power he was using so he could make improvements. I suggested he have the critical cable he needed made, and we would install it. The cable is rather thick and needs a special tool to install the lugs on the ends. Within hours they had the cable made to our specifications. So with my step by step coaching, I watched Roger do all the work. Hey, watching, I mean supervising, is an important job. Plus I had some tools needed for the installation. So now they have solid batteries, have reduced their power consumption, and can monitor exactly what is going on with their batteries and determine where the power hogs are. And Roger is one satisfied customer - grinning from ear to ear!
