Boat show is finally here - tomorrow.

04 October 2017 | Annapolis Boat Show
Sunny and pleasant with some afternoon wind
Sometimes it pays to procrastinate. They opened up some previously covered mooring balls, so if you came late this morning, you got a ball. But that was a very small window.

Yesterday we replaced a fluorescent light fixture on Roger and Tari’s boat with LED lights. The bulbs were around 10 inches long. I explained how to drill out the rivets so they could remove the guts. Then they bought two LED strips to replace the bulbs. The wiring was confusing, so I explained which wires to cut and which to connect to the strips. Looks great.

Roger and Tari had a refrigerator guy look at their refrigerator this morning. It was overcharged he said, but otherwise was working fine. But this afternoon the temperature was still high. Then the generator stopped working when it tried to run on the new gasoline Roger just bought. Always something.

We did chores today, like provisioning and laundry. We wanted to avoid traffic during the boat show - we heard it was a mess. Our boat neighbors had the same idea. On the way to the laundromat, we met one couple coming back. On the way in the door, we met the Vela couple leaving.

I finished cleaning another winch today. Only one left. They turn easily after I clean them. Beforehand, they are pretty sticky. You couldn’t even hear the pawls clicking on the mast winches. When the boat is facing east or west so the sun is on the side of the boat, I found I get an extra two amps from the solar panels if I put the boom all the way to the side instead of leaving it centered on the boat like I normally would. One more thing to adjust.
