Arlington National Cemetary
13 October 2017 | Arlington National Cemetary
Cloudy and cool with an evening mist
Today we visited Arlington National Cemetary. There are many things there to see, such as JFK's gravesite, Arlington House and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We watched the changing of the guard. They also replaced the wreath twice, so taps was played twice. Ashley recorded it, so I can use that when I play taps in the future on Memorial Day and other such occasions. "This is how they played it at Arlington ..." I figure that is as definitive as it gets.
We used the Old Town Trolley Tours to get around. So other stops included the Lincoln Memorial and several of the war memorials. Traffic this Friday the 13th evening was terrible and at one point the police set up a detour and closed a street, throwing our driver off his route. A common occurrence here, I think. It is a big bus and the driver is pointing out buildings and telling stories while fighting traffic and squeezing through spaces I would find tight in my car.
Afterward, there was a loud rock concert on the Wharf. There was no hiding from the music, but it did end early. Another full day.
