Tideless in Titusville and other bird jokes.
02 December 2017 | Titusville mooring field
Calm, warm and sunny. Cloudy for a short period.
There is not much current or tide here. The boat always faces into the wind, even when the breeze is slight. That is because there is no direct ocean inlet to the north or south. To the north is the narrow cut. To the south is a lock.
Watching pelicans settle on a post reminds me of an elephant joke. Where does an elephant sit? Anywhere it wants. For the Brown Pelican, if all the posts are taken, it doesn’t matter. It lands on any post that doesn’t have a pelican on it - anywhere it wants. The smaller bird leaves without protesting. The other less common pelican down here is the American White Pelican.
It was nice to have a quiet day at anchor, or on a mooring. For shade, I put up the boom tent and forward hatch tent (thank you Steve and Sharon). Then at the end of the day, I decided to ruin a perfectly good day by doing a project - replace the wire nuts in the bathroom cubby hold with butt connectors. It did not go well and I understood why I had been putting it off. One wire nut joined 5 wires, the other joined 6 wires. When I was finished with the fiasco, I ended up with 4 butt connectors and a sore shoulder. Not sure that what I did made anything better, and it didn’t fix my issue. The deck wash still doesn’t work. Something to look forward to tomorrow.
