04 December 2017 | Titusville Marina
Partly cloudy and pleasant
Today I left the mooring and docked in my slip for the next few days while I visit my sisters. Pete from Sasha was at his boat today and helped me dock. The marina is very compact and they shoe horned me into a slip that is a little small. The blog photo shows that I am the biggest boat in this aisle. And there is little turning room to enter or leave the slip. The docks are half length docks, so I have to board the boat at my shrouds (the middle of the boat, which is awkward).
Pete treated me to lunch (thank you, Pete) and told me about his boat projects. The most interesting one was to replace his diesel engine with a three phase AC (as opposed to DC) electric engine. This is pretty cutting edge to say the least. I’m not going to get into all the details and pros and cons, but noiseless motoring would be pretty cool, and recharging the batteries with solar and your spinning propeller while sailing would also be pretty cool. Before he left, Pete helped me plan my next two weeks in Florida.
Roger called with Tari also on the line, so I couldn’t complain about Ohio State beating Michigan in football, and now tonight in basketball. If the games would just end early, we would have won both of them! Back to why Roger called - he wanted to go over his plans for getting south by going outside (Atlantic Ocean) and following pretty much what I did. At this early stage, it looks pretty good. Roger has been in contact with Kristtaney, and they are thinking of crossing to the Bahamas in mid January. So maybe we three boats will go together. Instead of the ‘Salty Dawg Rally’, it will be the ‘Greenhorns Rally’. I’ll have to check with Pete and Sue for their plans.
