One of the nice things about cruising is that you meet some great US folks that now live outside the US with homes and cars and pets and everything just like normal people. :) They too often go back to the States to visit friends and family and, therefore, need a house and/or pet sitter. Bryan and I are again staying at a nice home up on the cliff above the mouth of Boca del Drago. Since the couple are also owners of the Bocas Marina, they allow us to put 'uhane in a slip there while we stay at their house and play with their sweet (and yet very protective) dog, Coco. Its fun and a nice change for us and they feel a little safer leaving. Boca del Drago is on the same island (Isla Colon) as Bocas del Toro but at the other end. It is about a 30 min drive through town, then the rain forest, then along a beach before heading up to the top of the cliff. The home is a small 2 bedroom with an awesome veranda around 3 sides approximately 12' with dining table, lounging chairs, and a hammock. There are a couple differences to US homes. For example, there are only screens on the windows (no glass) which open for even more air flow. The shower is just outside the back door off the bathroom. It is a 3 1/2 wall enclosure about shoulder high with awesome flowers, plants, and rain forest all around you.
Anyway, we're having a relaxing time and enjoying the view of the surf, watching critters and being awakened each morning about 5:45 by the howler monkeys, geckos, and a hungry dog. Did you know geckos are loud? They are. :)
