Settling in
11/28/2009, Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten NA

Paul Left on Thursday, Mike and Bill went home on Friday. I am am finally alone here. Trying to air out the boat and collect all the laundry. After 2 and one half months, 12 different crew members and many miles, the boat smells like a locker room. Things are starting to rust (I keep a can WD40 on the cockpit table), you have to bribe people to take your garbage, cotton never dries, but i am here.
I am trying to get the lay of the land here from a cruisers perspective and not as a tourist.. I can do tee shirts but where do I do heavy towels. Where to fill propane. What about mail, packages. Cheapest shopping. If I save the rinse water I can use it for the next load of dirty clothes. (water is .16 a gallon) Better get busy on getting the water maker working.
I have dragged anchor here 3 times in the last 3 days, same crappy mud as Sodus, I am in 7 feet of water and 100 feet of chain, what gives.
But the rum is cheap and I am sweating my ass cool is that.
Hope you all had a good and peaceful Thanksgiving.

Glad to hear things a settling a bit. When do you get your first visitor(s)?

Btw...took a look at the pictures. From one sailior/sport fisherman to another...careful where you put the butt of that rod. As you've seen...there are big fish out there!

Locker room??? set out a bowl of cider vinegar. Takes out lots of odors.
Great reading about all your adventures. Keep up the good work Alan.

Great job Alan and crew! Glad you made it safe and sound. Any drumsticks on that dolphin?

Looking forward to the "lessons learned" and all the fuel and engine diagnosis'.

I have added some pictures of the last leg of our trip to the gallery.
