Settling in
28 November 2009 | Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten NA
Paul Left on Thursday, Mike and Bill went home on Friday. I am am finally alone here. Trying to air out the boat and collect all the laundry. After 2 and one half months, 12 different crew members and many miles, the boat smells like a locker room. Things are starting to rust (I keep a can WD40 on the cockpit table), you have to bribe people to take your garbage, cotton never dries, but i am here.
I am trying to get the lay of the land here from a cruisers perspective and not as a tourist.. I can do tee shirts but where do I do heavy towels. Where to fill propane. What about mail, packages. Cheapest shopping. If I save the rinse water I can use it for the next load of dirty clothes. (water is .16 a gallon) Better get busy on getting the water maker working.
I have dragged anchor here 3 times in the last 3 days, same crappy mud as Sodus, I am in 7 feet of water and 100 feet of chain, what gives.
But the rum is cheap and I am sweating my ass off.....how cool is that.
Hope you all had a good and peaceful Thanksgiving.
