The Saga of Ursa Minor
Profile for The Saga of Ursa Minor

Captain: Captains Bryan Lane (callsign NP2NH) and Judy Knape
Hailing Port: St. Thomas, Virgin Islands
The Crew: Bryan and Judy met while working charter in the Virgin Islands. Judy had been chartering for many years, both as captain and chef, and had also served a stint as Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Charteryacht League. When Bryan left the business world in Connecticut in 1999 to begin chartering with Ursa Minor in the Virgins, he needed a chef, and Judy came to his aid, staying on to marry him and head off on the grand adventure with him. Both hold 100 ton Coast Guard Masters licenses, and are PADI-certified divers.
Something
Extra:
Initial plans for the grand saga are to head for the Panama Canal early in 2007, visiting the off-shore islands of Venezuela, the ABCs, and the San Blas en route, then transit the Canal in March. On to the Galapagos, French Polynesia, and some points west before spending the next cyclone season in the Marshall Islands of Micronesia where Judy ran a Legal Services Office years ago. Then, who knows???? Much of the joy will come from the unexpected and spontaneous, and we plan to remain very flexible.
Update: We made it to the Marshalls, where after almost a year and a half we are finally departing in April 209 for points south - hopefully Fiji and Tonga.
