Slowly packing up Lati
13 July 2014
Dimitri the crane driver turned up yesterday to see Lati and organize haul out. Tuesday morning she will be lifted out into his boatyard. It's a dusty place with lots of dogs but safe and secure. The port marina in Lavrion is convenient to town and where we are berthed is managed by the very helpful and friendly Jorge. It's only 1 euro per metre to stay here and there is a small shower block nearby. There is also a huge car park in front of Lati that was very useful yesterday when we had to fold up the sails.
My heart is heavy as I decide what to pack, what to leave and what to get rid of. Lati is for sale but it will be difficult to organize an inspection when we are back in Australia. But if you know someone who would be interested in a very seaworthy pretty little yacht in the Med, you know how to contact us.

She won't look so pretty with everything packed and stacked up inside. Boats belong in the water. So it is highly likely we will be back. But when? Maybe 12 months. Maybe more maybe less....
We were hoping to sail to France this year but with delays with the new gear box and a tight timetable to be back in Australia for our sons wedding, we ended up staying in Greece. Which has been wonderful. We do love it here. The relaxed friendly way of life, the beautiful islands and we now have some very good friends here. So good that they have given us keys to their spare apartment in Athens. So after Lati is hauled out, we take our 4 huge pieces of luggage and 2 small backpacks on to a bus for Athens. A day's breather and we take just 1 bag for a 2 week holiday to France by plane.
While in France we will be meeting up with friends and also looking for possible places to take Lati next year, if we do. We've hired a car so we now have a road trip to look forward to before we fly back to Australia. Our a French is terrible so it will be interesting when we try to communicate! We've been lucky in Greece as most people speak English.
Here's Lati with the full moon behind her last night. Her golden anodized mast literally glows
