When are you off on your next big trip?

07 August 2017
So many times we've been asked this question. The answer is 'We don't know. We just sailed to Lord Howe Island and back a few months ago.'

I guess we are landlubbers for now. Our beautiful bush hideaway in northern NSW is as peaceful as the most remote anchorage. The wildlife continues to enthrall, the view of Mt Warning is magical and we both have a shed. Wonderful...

But the sea does call now and again. Valiam is berthed at Mooloolaba Marina which is just the best location opposite the beach and for meeting our sailing friends. So we have the best of both worlds. Not only that we are fortunate to also have a place in Iluka, NSW. We camp in a shed there at the moment and have drawn up plans to build a small beach cottage.

The best thing for me personally about being landlubbers for a while, is that I have been able to pursue my passion for Art. I am involved in 3 local galleries including The Emporium in Iluka. My books are for sale there if you are ever passing through.

Meanwhile our grand lady Valiam is 23 now and she's having a bit of a rest too after the miles she's done. Does that answer your question? We do talk of another world trip somewhere, sometime. But Tasmania would be nice one summer as we didn't get to Port Davey last time.

Lisa Blair arrives back in Australia as First Woman to Circumnavigate Antarctica

25 July 2017
1000s around the world watched Lisa's tracker riveted yesterday (including me!) as she closed in on Albany. The winds weren't kind so her arrival was after dark. Nevertheless the town of Albany and others including Lisa's family flew in to be there. What a feat! What a woman! Huge congratulations Lisa.
