Heading Home!

¿Cómo está usted? If you haven’t heard, Susan and I are heading home to Portland. We should be there by August 25th with stops in Amarillo, Liberal Kansas and of course Casper Wyoming to do a little flyfishin’ with my buds. We should be home for about 30 days. On October 1st we’re flying to LaPaz to reunite with our long lost “um velero barca Valparaiso.” We are planning on spending 6-7 months sailing around the Sea of Cortez based out of LaPaz… just in case any of you are maybe planning a visit. The Blogs should start to increase as we experience new adventures or just plan screw things up. This should also include more pictures including video. Our first photo when I get back is going to be a picture of me, lying in my hammock, with nothing on but a ice cold cerveza… now that’s a picture! Ok….I’ll give you a minute to recover from that last mental image….
After messin’ around for a few months, (April or May) we are going to do the Baja Bash… if you have to ask, “What’s the Baha Bash” then maybe it’s not for you… anyone interested? We’re hoping to do it in a number of stages… leaving each anchorage in the early morning getting into the next safe harbor by the middle of the next day. We want to spend a number of days in Magdalena Bay where the Whales breed and raise their young calves before migrating north. All of the rest of the stops should be just long enough to recharge the crew’s batteries or wait for a weather window. This past month I’ve been following our friends on S/V Third Day as they too are completing the 1500 mile bash. It looks like it took them 28 to 30 days from LaPaz to San Diego. This is the kind of trip we are planning. It can be made in half the time if you want to beat yourself up; I know plenty of people who have done it including Capt. Rich, however that’s not for me. Anyway...hope to see all soon. For my friends in OKC, "adiós mi amigos." Butch/Joe
