Hell or High Water

Butch
Spending our last couple of days in Portland enjoying the company of our sons. We’ve seen a lot of movies, took them shooting and oh ya, cleaned up their condo, or was that the first thing we did?
We’ve had the most outstanding weather this past 5 weeks however I can’t say that for La Paz. This last week we watched anxiously as Hurricane Miriam threatened from the west…it rained over 5 inches…that’s five years of rainfall for them. A couple of days ago they had a 6.2 earthquake followed up by numerous aftershocks. And now we’re keeping an eye on tropical storm Norman moving north along the coast. What next LOCUST? Is somebody trying to tell us something?
We spent one weekend with our friends Sam & Nancy in Eugene Oregon. Sam and I fished the famous Metolius River. It’s beautiful river with friendly people, we met a couple from California and a local gentleman that when ask about the river and where to fish he said, “follow me” and proceeded to take us to a couple of his favorite holes, it’s been a long time since I’ve experienced that. It was dark thirty when we quit, I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable days of fishing I’ve had in a long time. I think a lot had to do with me feeling better. I’m happy to say I’ve lost 35 lbs. since leaving OKC…looking forward to losing more while in Mexico…I just hope it’s not a result of Montezuma’s revenge! And Sam…what a BS’er, “I’ve only fly fished a couple of times”; maybe what he meant to say was I’ve only caught a couple fish on a fly rod. I think he uses photoshop in all his fish pictures…
Come Hell or high water (or Locust) the next blog will be sent from La Paz!
