| About: | Vicki has always loved the water. Swimming, windsurfing, body boarding, snorkelling, paddling, and sailing have been a huge part of her life. When she and Maynard purchased their first yacht, a Magnum 8.5 metre trailer sailer, her yachting life started. 50,000 miles later, she is about to try life on the water on Vanish, a Marlow Voyager 76LR (Long Range), our first power boat. Maynard cannot remember never wanting a yacht his entire life. He too was an avid surfer and windsurfer with his dream of owning his first yacht coming true in 1991. Vicki & Maynard have owned 4 yachts and have cruised and raced them for 20 years, competing in over 300 races in Australia. They sailed their yacht Cruz Control, a Santa Cruz 52 carbon fibre cruiser/racer from San Francisco to Brisbane in 1998 then raced her for 5 years including 2 Sydney to Hobart yacht races. Salt water runs through Maynard's veins and no matter if its sail or power, the desire to keep learning everything to do with enjoying ocean travel keeps his heart pumping. | ||
| Something Extra: |
Our missing crew member who has at least 10,000 miles under her paws is Bindi, our 10 year old Blue Cattle Dog. She hasn't joined us on this first part of our trip, but when Vanish arrives back in Australia, she'll be anxious to jump aboard as Chief Dolphin Spotter. | ||
