Heading North

04 February 2014 | Bequia, St Vincent
15-20K
We are sitting in Bequia studying weather to try to find a nice day to head a little further north.Took a little longer to get everything fixed in Trinidad but finally got most everything working. Exiting out the Boca was tough as the outgoing tide met the 20-25K seas coming in. Add in some diesel fumes and it was a miserable first few miles. The new crew had a little trouble getting their sea legs but since then the sailing has been very nice. Pleasant stops in Tobago Cays and Mustique. Although we were very restricted there. Must have been someone in residence who preferred their privacy as there was securty eiverywhere and we were made to surrender all cameras ashore. But Bequia is another nice stop. When the boys came around with a nice lobster, the new crew decided it looked like lunch. Their first time cooking lobster for themselves. (Notice the skipper is having a ham sandwich. Still find that tropical lobster do not compare to the Maine variety.)
Not a bad life this.

Ventana is floating again after being on the hard since February 2013. She has a smooth new layer of glass on her bottom and a new white topsides as well. As I write this she is also getting a new nonskid deck paint job as well.
The new crew, Daniela and Eckardt are due to arrive in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we will have all the projects completed and we will be ready to sail away up to the Bahamas.
