Update on Conditions, Position

The crew is facing a few challenges, as there seems to be a problem with the propeller shaft slipping position so that it is not engaging. Engine is working, just not engaging for propulsion. This means total reliance on sail power, and the need to head further south on their course than expected to catch trade winds. Oliver at Commander Weather service had spoken with them this morning; they had picked up NE winds around 15-18 kts, sailing at 7 kts with a heading of 287. He advised them to continue heading south, to a bit south of 25 degrees N, to avoid westerly headwinds expected later this week. There is a storm farther north of them that won't hurt them but will diminish the trade breezes. So, slow going later this week, depending on how well they can position around any trade winds.
All this delays the arrival in Bermuda, and will require work to be completed in Bermuda to correct the problem before leaving for Newport. Without knowing the length of the delay, our current crew members will depart from Bermuda and we'll redo plans for sailing to Newport, and with what crew.
An issue with the generator is also being worked on as well.... all this keeping a few crew members busier than expected. However, all are well, and safe.
Keeping posted and watching from home base, daily....
