We have been in Thessaloniki for about three weeks now and have got to know it quite well along with the nice suburb Kalamaria where Njord is moored. Just after we arrived, Vic had severe toothache and his Greek friends from work who come from Thessaloniki came to the rescue and introduced him to George who is an implant specialist. George saw Vic on an emergency basis, took x-rays and introduced him to Penny. She is the root canal specialist. She is lovely too. So after 4 visits you can imagine that we got to know certain areas quite well. We took the No. 5 bus in and out of Thessaloniki until there was a city wide strike of bus drivers called and so we followed the Greek tradition of sharing taxis with anyone going in the same direction. I still don't know how they work out the fare as the meter runs but it is cheap so not a problem.

Thessaloniki is a university town so there are lots of young people around, it is buzzy and full of amazing restaurants and cafes.

We went to TRIBECA the trendy bar along the waterfront for a drink and sent a WhatsApp message to Nic and Tiff saying we are in TRIBECA where are you? They were in Malaga and London but now live in NY.

We have to say that private medical and dental care in Greece is fabulous, much cheaper and more civilized.
