Vic and I have not ridden a bike since we took Nicholas to CentreParcs in Sherwood Forest about 25 years ago.

You need a bike here to get to the shower block, the supermarket and what's more there are lovely cycle paths to try out. We visited the local cycle shop and thought first of all about renting. But then decided to buy and get new shiny new ones! We ordered white frames but the new white is black apparently and the two arrived looking very smart with 20 inch wheels. They are whizzy folding bikes and if we keep Dennis, our dinghy on the deck the bikes can go into the transom. We measured them up and they will fit in just.

Our first week was spent wobbling along the pathways and avoiding all the children out on their own bikes and scooters. This was more difficult than you imagine they are so tiny and so fast and determined. We do have a couple of scraped elbows where we wobbled into the walls to miss said child! Now, in our second week we have graduated to going to the supermarket and coming home with the shopping for tonight's Trafalgar Night celebration.
