Cape May

Had a wonderful afternoon/ evening with our friends Spencer and Lorraine. Told them at Schaefers that we would be there a long time! After dinner they drove us over the bridge to the old town of Chesapeake City. It is really gorgeous with some absolutely charming houses. It's funny. Going by towns on the water is like going by towns on a railroad. All you see is the back side of town with no idea of what lies within.
We needed to laugh all night with the problems we have been having with our antenna and all the work and phone calls on it the funny thing is when we got up at 6 this morning to go through the C and D canal, everything worked perfectly! So we are not going to turn the system off at all!
Took us two hours to go through the canal, then out to Delaware Bay. We got it worked out perfectly with the tides. You can't go all the way up or down with a favorable tide. So coming down as we were, we were against the tide at the north end. Gradually the tide started ebbing so we went MOST of the way down the bay with the tide. As we got to the corner (Cape May) the tide turned against us again. So we got the best we could possibly do with the strong tides on the Delaware .
The weather has certainly changed and I don't mean rain. It must be at least 40 degrees colder than it was in Annapolis. It was 90 when we were there. All our winter clothes are out now as it is very cold on the water.
Cape May is not terribly crowded. We think we are a little ahead of the northerly flow of boats from Florida and the Caribbean.
Boat food for the next 7 days. We probably won't be off the boat till we get to Catskill!
