Cape May
13 September 2014
Jacky
After a layover day in Atlantic City where we finished putting the boat back together, we headed back out in the ocean, sailing the whole way to Cape May. It was grey and a little swelly, but it was great to be sailing again. Now we hope it pours rain tonight to wash the salt off of everything.
I've washed me and all the dirty clothes. Bob is reading up on the tides on Delaware Bay so we can do that right. Tides really do affect your sailing! We did run the engine the last hour of sailing (the wind was dying) but also to top off our batteries. We had gone 2 nights and a day on our solar panels. Today was very cloudy so they didn't make much energy for us today. Between the solar panels and LED lights, our energy usage has gone way down.
Not sure yet if we will go up to the Cohansey River on the Delaware Bay tomorrow or not. We want to get together with Spencer and Lorraine Saints whom we met coming home last summer at a restaurant on the C and D canal,
but doesn't look like it will be Sunday. Now maybe Monday or Tuesday.
Here's Bobby in all his sailor scruffiness.
