Australia Day
26 January 2014 | Athol Bay, ie Taronga Park Zoo
Debbie
The day started a little drizzley but it didn't deter us. Drizzle cleared to a cloudy day, which was fine, not too hot & no sunburn. Volare was all decked out with all the flags we had on board including all our courtesy flags from the countries we had visited on the delivery trip from California.
We picked up the family from the newish floating Jetty at Mort Bay, Ballast Point. With Mia, Darren, Jade, Lachie & Darren's sister Tracey aboard we waited a short while till their good friends, Kim, Mark, Liam, Harry & Sammi arrived. Loads of food & fun Aussie Stuff aboard we headed for the Harbour. We decided on Athol Bay so the kids & Millie could go ashore & run & swim & get rid of their energy. Better view would have been at Farm Cove. Lil and Bruce & friends on Sundowner arrived & anchored beside us.
WOW the day really put it in, Jets flying over, a Qantas plane circled the Harbour & trilled us, Tall Ships, Cruise Ships, Water Spray Tugs, A Tug & Yacht Ballet (we only saw the decorated yachts coming in afterwards)
We had all an Australiana lunch theme, with make your own BBQ'd Hamburgers with my own baked Beetroot. Count how many flags are in Lachies Hamburger bun in the pic. A great day was had by all.
