Entering The Tweed Bar

16 May 2014 | Tweed River
Debbie
Greg was worried about entering The Tweed BUT We are in! We are in! We are in and anchored😊 Tweed bar was good & deep 5.6 or so metres, then as Alan Lucas says you line up with this big building to come in BUT after that, went aground twice, once quite hard on, through Greg's great manoeuvring AND it was still a rising ride, we for odd. Charts, iPad, starboard buoys, Alan Lucas books are incorrect DEPTHS. Alan warned Greg about that at dinner last week because of moving sands. TO SOUTH OF THE BAR they have built a big Jetty looking construction that continually dredges the sand away from the entrance, same as the Southport bar. Shame they do that inside in the couple places we went aground. All good in the end and we anchored near quite a few local boats on moorings in the left arm of the Tweed.
