Bye Southport hello Tipplers

28 May 2014 | Tipplers Passage, South Stradbrock Island
Debbie
Bye Bye Souhport & Glitz City. We've had a wonderful week and a half here, all very convenient from a boat. We moved from Bum's Bay and anchored right opposite Australia Fair Shopping Centre. Council have renovated the whole foreshore park with a cafe, big jetty, great children play things. A short dinghy ride across to Southport Yacht Club, Versace, Marina Mirage, where especially I spent a bit of time meeting, long term friends, lunching on the beautiful balcony.

There are two ways of getting north from here. The first option is to sail the outside of Moreton Island from the Southport Seaway to Mooloolaba (about 95 nautical miles). The second option is to take the scenic route by motoring up the inside passage amongst a myriad of deltas feeding into Moreton Bay. We have chosen the latter because there isn't a lot of wind at the moment for sailing. By taking this route, stopping along the way we will take about a week to get to Mooloolaba.

Anchored last night at Tipplers, a bit run down but charming Balinese style resort, lunch, function area, no accommodation now.......Very tranquil anchorage 🎣🎇
