Volaré - Pacific Odyssey

We said Goodbye to Volare at the fantastic Boatworks facility at Coomera, a short motor from Southport, QLD. The best facility we have been to anywhere. As members of the Shagers SICYC (they are major sponsors) we received an extra FREE night berth, therefore 2 nights on arrival and discounts on haul out and anti fouling and polishing. It has excellent facilities if you wish to live aboard and do work yourself. They also have a FREE Courtesy Car with shopping all very close. One of the best cafe/restaurants we have ever seen, The GALLEY, fully old ship themed. Marie the owner and Head Waitress is a hoot, we really hit it off.

The end of an era

VOLARÉ, our ninth yacht is now sold. We wish her new owners, Rod and Sue, many years of happiness with her, as we have had. May the wind always be from the stern quarter. We have downsized to a smaller yacht that will enable us to explore parts of Australia that were not possible with VOLARÉ.

We hope you have enjoyed reading of our adventures as much as we have in recording them.

Great yachtie girls think alike, lovely summer colours, Joan is the attractive tall blonde one on the right. On board their lovely Seawind Catamaran 'Camelot' we've followed each other up now down the NSW/ QLD Coast. Their from Perth & have a Seawind over there too, so might get a sail with them one day off WA Coast.

About:	We have had 9 yachts together in our 43 years together
Extra:	Debbie and I have been sailing for about 30 years. In 1983 we set sail, together with Mia (our daughter) in a 38' ketch for what was to become a four year sabatical that took us from Sydney to Hong Kong. We were the true slow boat to China. We ended up spending about 15 years away from Australia, [...] Greg working in Advertising for BBDO International in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan. During that time we had a Tayana 42, Crystal Dancer, built in Taiwan and had it delivered to Hong Kong. After 4 years we sailed her to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for our next posting with BBDO. We sold Crystal Dancer when we were transferred to Tokyo. Our daughter has now married and has 2 beautiful children, Jade and Lachlan. In May 2006 we took delivery of Volare in Longbeach California and spent 1 1/2 years sailing her back to Australia and eventually mooring her in Batemans Bay. We coincidentally live in Long Beach.
