Time to update this blog not much has been happening. We have been spending time preparing the yacht for her long sea voyage across the Atlantic. We have had rigging checked, Engines overhauled, new sheets for the halyard & many spares bought as well as provisioning. We were lucky to meet up with Greg & Carol fellow South Africans who are busy refitting a custom built 65 foot Catamaran. They were able to put us in contact with many qualified people to work with us on Amarula. The New River Municipal Marina we are in is very nice beautiful gardens all around very well kept & clean & very reasonably priced. It is interesting being up a river as it is busy all day long with various yachts coming in & going out,. Many motor yachts of up to 150 feet quite beautiful lines. It is very hot here with occasional downpours which are a relief. We will be sorry to leave here as we did not have much time to explore the city & surroundings. We leave to-morrow Saturday heading for Bermuda & then onto the Azores then Gibralter & then ultimately Turkey we think it will take us about 21/2 months depending on the weather. We will update as we go along & let you know how we are progressing.
