and we just crossed the 600nm mark: dist to Marquesas: 595nm.
The 11 is still looking if all goes well!
We've been 25 days at sea.
Found a large flying fish in a fold of the main sail 1st reef. And another big one landed in the cockpit last night. Thump... flutter, flutter.
Today was jut like yesterday.
Including another go at bread making. This most recent trial used French all purpose flour from the canaries....and does not look any more promising than the previous attempts (although not cooked yet). This time Nat and I are each doing a loaf and Nat is going for broke with only one rise and no 2nd kneading and rise. I'm walking the conservative road with 2 kneading but I'm going to coerce that 2 rising into a real rapture: I'm putting the dough on top of the lit oven. By the way we're still on our 1st bottle of propane....amazing especially our repeated attempts at bread making.
I've turned a can of pathetic Progresso "Clam Chowder" into actual Clam Chowder by adding a can of actual clams and sauteed onions: worked well.
Same sail maneuvers today as yesterday: depole jib on port and trim without a pole on starboard because of afternoon windshift.
Other than the bread, some reading: alternators and refrigeration; human evolution; and math.
Nat just put on Nina Simone, gave me a glass of red (disclosure: vino tinto in 1l box coming from chili and bought at Shelter Bay in Panama....); Sun's going down and we're moving at more than 7 kts over ground. Only black splotch: the love of my life ain't around!
