Rarotonga

Hey All!
Sitting here on the boat in Avatiu harbor, Rarotonga, squinting at the screen through the blinding sunlight. I can't figure out if wearing sunglasses makes it better or worse, but my options are limited because this is the only place my laptop picks up the anemic Telecom wireless signal. We're med-moored up to the seawall here (bow anchor out, two stern lines to the quay) in this tiny harbor. There are no anchorages anywhere around the island, unless you have about 4000 feet of chain and enjoy destroying beautiful coral.. So, there are about eight boats lined up here cheek to jowl, squeezed in on either side by fishing boats and a New Zealand Navy ship. I've spent the last half hour or so trying to upload all our pictures from the Tuamotus and Tahiti, without success. I've had many requests for more photos, but you'll all have to wait a little longer. Perhaps Niue will have a good connection somewhere.
We're leaving this afternoon for Palmerston Atoll, a two day sail from here, and then on to Niue and Tonga. Rarotonga has been such an interesting place, and for the first time in three months, we speak the local language! Consequently, the number of friends we've made has increased by a factor of 317. I'll spend some good time on this next passage writing up a more detailed account of our stay here.
Cheers!
