the Swimming Hole
27 August 2009 | Salinas, Puerto Rico
80s and sunny!
This was the best part of Salinas (at least for ML). A safe anchorage only a mile or so away from the conveniences of Salinas with clear, swimmable, snorkelable water. Over the course of the summer, we regularly saw there schools of spotted eagle rays, cuttlefish all in a row, octopus, lobsters, a jawfish dubbed "Fishy in the Hole" and southern sting rays. On top of that, the vacationing/weekending Puerto Ricans would come out and drink and eat and splash around and drop all sorts of goodies, which we would collect the next morning. Whatever wasn't trash, we dubbed "Bling" and ranged from dinghy anchors to t-shirts to cold, hard cash!
I just loved this place, on so many different levels!
