spongy mop:
For wiping down the dew on the topsides (that's fresh water) helps to keep the boat clean.
Fleese Towels:
Get rid of most of you cotton towels and buy the fleese towels at wallmart/K-Mart in the automotive section (about $6). They're great! Dry fast.
Solar Shower:
The 5 gallon one. Don't leave home without it. Don't skimp on this.
6-Gallon Water Jugs:
The Blue ones. At least 2. We have a 30GPH water maker and next year I'm bringing 3 jugs. They're light when they're empty and wonderful when they're full!
SoftScrub with Bleach:
We use it alot on the non-skid and also on the dink.
Solar Panels:
Lots of sunshine down here. I think I've run my generator once in the last month. The laptop uses up a ton of juice. If nothing else, need a panel just to cover the laptop.
Wind Generator:
I don't have mine installed (left it in Florida). The wind blows a lot down here in the winter. On those days when the fronts come through and it's cloudy, the wind generator would really be nice. I'm installing my over the summer. Just can't beat wind and solar together.
Watermaker:
It's nice to have. Many people don't and seem to get by fine. I'm glad I have one.
External Wi-Fi Antenna:
Don't really need it. Instead of sitting comfortably on your boat, you can dingy in a few miles and sit in a crowded little shack and do you blog. NOT. Get the damn antenna.
We have the ENGENIUS 2410-EXT (or something like that). Works great.
SSB Reciever:
Gotta have a receiver at least. We get by fine with just the receiver and have no plans on getting a transmitter.
Davis Anchor Light:
We have the one that comes on automatically at dark. Once we're at anchor, we hang it from the boom, plut it in and forget about it. And it only uses a couple of amps for the whole night! Our mast top uses 20 amps over night. Well worth the $65.
LED Garden Landscape Lights:
We'll be bringing 4-5 of these next year. For starters, don't piss away your money on a white dingy light. Mount a landscape light on the back. It's also great to have one on each side of the boat to increase your visability. We stick them in the fishing rod holders.
