Regatta started today, Saturday, with the coconut dingy race in the morning. We watched. Gizmo, however, did grab his fair share of coconuts (not enough to win). Later in the day, Gizmo was conned into entering the Pet Parade. Black Spot the Pirate takes on those prissy little wenches and scalleywags in an enjoyable costume affair. strutting to the music of CCR's Badmoon Rising, Blackspot made his rounds.
Later, the Regatta 'Opening Night' started with a masqurade mask competition followed by some skits, jokes & dancing under the stars. I tried to get Dave to enter the mask competition since he put the most time (between Margi,Michele,Dave & I) into creating his, but he wouldn't go for it.
Dave and Margi entered their boat into the Around Stocking Island Race (this Monday) with Michele, Black Spot and myself as crew. Looking forward to that, then it's about time to blow this joint. I can't believe it's almost time to start inching our way back north.

This place is absolutely insane and now it looks like we'll be here for a little longer because Dave (from the other Wayward Sun) has coerced us into joining him on their boat for the the sailboat race which is part of the regatta and will be on Weds. If you want more info about the Georgetown regatta you can go to http://georgetowncruisingregatta.org/ and see all of the events and everything about this crazy place.
The median age is probably 65 and while a lot of boats left over the last couple of days due to a good weather windowthere is still probably about 200 boats but it's hard to tell because everybody keeps moving around when the weather and especially the wind shifts. These people really get into this stuff. Tonight is the opening ceremony w/ a black and white theme and masks. Tim made us go to the last minute very last - mask making session so that we wouldn't feel like losers if we go to the opening ceremonies tonight. We also went to the AHOY party which means you bring your own alcohol and hors d'eovre and we never did figure out what the O and Y were.Today is also the pet parade but Gizmo decided he didn't want ot participate when he found out that he had to walk down to an actual runway w/ his favorite music playing and he would have to provide a couple of paragraphs specifying what his education was, his bloodline, his children and if he is paying child support - I kid you not!!
We've played sand volleyball over at volleyball beach, hiked the islands, lots of walks on the beach, hung out drinking beers at the Chat N' Chill w/ our friends, happy hours and so on. Now, it's back to work. We're off to town to hit the grocery stores and do laundry.

We're anchored in Elizabeth Harbour which is made up of Great Exuma Island on the west side, and Stocking Island on the east. Most of the fun stuff takes place on Stocking Island, which is where Volleyball Beach, Monument Beach and Sanddollar Beach are located. Stocking Island appears to be largely un-inhabited. Georgetown, the town,is located on Greate Exuma Island, which is 2-3 miles across the harbour. I remembered to take the camera with me today when we went in to get some food, water and gas (@$5/gal), so I could get some shots of downtown Georgetown....
