A fellow boater sent us this picture that he took when we were passing him in the Dismal Swamp Canal last week. Notice the water color. The brown color is from tannin.

We have gotten hung up in a stretch of crappy weather. We wanted to go offshore from Beaufort, NC to Charleston, SC. That's close to a two day run. But, the forecast keeps having 20 - 25 knot winds and we aren't going out in that. We need to backup and regroup. We're going into Beaufort, NC today and try to get a berth at the City Docks. The boat is dripping water inside from condensation and it would be nice to get the reverse cycle AC (heat pump) going to warm up and dry out the boat.
After the laundry is done and the groceries have been bought, we'll decide what our next move is.

Yesterday morning I wondered if I had correctly read the weather forecast. It was supposed to be a wet, windy, nasty day and instead it was a beautiful, sunny, balmy morning. About 11 AM, that all changed. The front came thru like a freight train. One minute it was warm with a gentle breeze from the south and the next minute it was cold with 20 knot winds from the north. And then the rain started. It was a good day to be at anchor and in the cabin as opposed to underway and at the helm.
We are staying here at anchor one more day. We have no cell phone coverage at this location. If you want to contact us it will have to be via the boat e-mail address.
