Cruising the Chesapeake September 2012 VI Saturday, September 15, 2012 Anchored in Worton Creek off the Chesapeake Bay, MD Water temperature 75 F

The crabbing was good in the East Fork of Langford Creek and with the investment of six chicken necks and three hours spent sitting in the dinghy enjoying the scenery and netting crabs; a bucket of crabs more than sufficient for two people was harvested. And most of them were heavy crabs, the way they get just prior to shedding their shells. You know you have one stuffed with meat when they are black and grungy looking and maybe missing part of a claw. If the crab is bright blue and shiny it recently got a new shell and it will be a light crab with not a whole lot of meat. But they are all tasty and this time only one escaped while being put into the pot.

Yesterday we moved the boat 35 miles down Langford Creek to the Chester River to the Chesapeake and then north to Worton Creek. A front came through last night and we'll stay here today to let the north winds die down before we continue north tomorrow.
