Cruising the Chesapeake September 2012 VII Wednesday, September 26, 2012 Anchored in Worton Creek off the Chesapeake Bay, MD Water temperature 70 F

After a week onshore we are back on the boat for the final week of our cruising life. We left the boat for a week on a mooring at Georgetown Yacht Basin where we got a rent car. I turned in the car yesterday morning and we headed back out into the Chesapeake Bay. We were headed south in the Bay and the wind were blowing 15 knots out of the south. The bow was hitting the waves throwing spray all the way back to the stern. We had the tide giving us a 1.5 knot push so were able to make good time as long as the tide was ebbing. Once the tide turned we would have been going about 3 knots SOG while bashing into the waves. We made it to Worton Creek before the tide turned and called it a day.

It's still blowing 15 - 20 out of the south and there are 3 foot waves out on the Bay but you would never know it here on Worton Creek. We are protected from most of the wind and there are only little waves on the water. Tonight the wind will shift to the north. We are staying here today and tomorrow we will go back out on the Bay and let the wind blow us south.

Today's photo is a misty morning on Langford Creek.
