Wow! It is late September and the summer is gone! Sheez...
We've been so very busy remodeling our lake home we have not been able to update this site. Sorry. I'll spare you the gory details, but our contractor quit on us before the job was done. So, we've had to find another to help us finsh the work . We've learned a lot about demolishing and re-building, but we would not want to do this again anytime soon. We are also speading 3 large scoops of dark mulch and landscaping to ease the care needed on the outside...at least, that's the goal (less work!?) While that is still happening, I managed to get a Xantrex battery monitor installed on Happy Ours with Victor Lipscome's helpful hints. I also just completed wiring and installing a Raymarine A60 chart-plotter on Happy Ours, and organizing ship's contents. We'll probably haul-out, paint and re-lauch before heading south in November.
Sue and I are visiting the SAS Institute campus on Tuesday, 28 Sept 2010 to give away our favorite plants during the semi-annual garder club's plant swap. I'll stop in to see some former co-workers as well. Since we plan on spending a few months on Happy Ours this winter, we will not be able to care for the plants and I'd rather find them homes than allow them to wither and die from lack of care/water.
The dock is done and lacks only a rear climbing ladder.
The decks on the house are also completely re-decked, but I still need to redeck the stairs and some 4 foot platforms on the stairway. Oh, and we need to find a good mason to finish the fireplace stone veneeer and help us with a stone wall. Whew! I feel as if I am working harder now than I did before I retired...
No pics as things are not completed... Hope to update again sooner then later! :)
