Leg 2 - Day 7

27 April 2012 | Beaufort, SC
Pam
We took our time leaving Hilton Head this morning and motored up the ICW for our final day of travel. It was a hot day for us -- lots of sunshine but minimal wind. We pulled into Marsh Harbor Boat Works in Beaufort around 1:30 this afternoon. (We decided against stopping in Charleston because the monthly docking fee would've been pricey.)

A cab picked us up shortly after and drove us to the airport at Hilton Head so we could pick up our rental car. Dave gave us a little tour of some of the places at Hilton Head that we didn't get to see yesterday.

Tomorrow we'll be cleaning up the boat and packing up to go back home. We have a 15 hour drive back to CT and we're planning on leaving some time tomorrow afternoon.

We're happy with the progress that we made on this leg, considering the weather and conditions. An overnight sail would've been a great experience for all of us, but unfortunately the conditions were against us, which prevented us from making it as far as Murrell's Inlet. We wished we could've done more sailing, but the couple of offshore days we had were awesome. Our captain made very good decisions and a good time was had by all.

The boat will stay here in Beaufort for a couple of months until our next leg in June/July.
