What a Great Weekend!

Wow, our second weekend of 70+ on the Potomac. Ashley has a CPA test today so we decided to take it as easy this weekend.

I spend Saturday and Sunday doing canvas work, I am really starting to enjoy it. Canvas should be a great cruisers skill when the time comes, if it ever comes, 20 years is not long to wait...right? I might have to have a 1/4 life crisis and quit working in cube prison and start working on canvas full time! I created a website--check it out at http://canvasjoes.com. The canvas work is actually going much better then I expected, I told three people that I was doing canvas and got 3 jobs right there on the spot. I am going to have to find a way to work in cube prison, keep the boat up and do canvas all at the same time. I guess this is a good problem.

The Life of a Yachtie (Dreaming of Warmth)

Given the not so favorable weather I am limited to posting THE WEATHER. We had that one warm day here in the nation's capital which prompted me to start this sailblog. Of course since then there has not been one good day to take the boat out and enjoy what the Grand Potomac has to offer. I suppose I could tell of my dreams of the weather getting warm and spending my weekends on the river at the infamous "Three Sisters".

Three sisters are located right above the Key Bridge on the Potomac River. The "sisters" consists of a relatively shallow area and three large rocks on the DC side or right side of the Potomac. I am positive there are many of folk lure in regard to the reason these rocks are called three sisters. The two I have heard of are 1. They represent 3 nuns and two they represent 3 Native American women. I am not sure what is right here, but if it's on Wikipedia then it has to be true!!

Back to the dream... Oh I cant wait for the days when on Friday after work Ashley and I rush home to get Lady Elizabeth ready for a long weekend on the river. The only thing between you and nature will be the long naps in the V-berth, where it's a tad cooler from the cool spring breezes blowing through the hatch. Where your biggest decision will be to go out on the dinghy and explore or just sit on the aft deck and sip a cold beverage. Oh it sounds so relaxing; you're welcome to come BTW.

I digress, back to work!

Warm Weather on the Potomac

Nothing much to report at this time, but I wanted to post my first blog.
It's turning spring here in DC and everyone is out and about washing their boats and getting ready for spring. We spent a few hours Saturday cleaning the decks and getting rid of that dreaded black film that the city relentlessly deposits on the boat, I thought bird crap was bad. Lady Elizabeth faired will during the winter but I'm sure summer on the aft deck is going to be even better. The weatherman says this week the temperatures are going to drop into the 30's at night and low 50's during the day, I guess we will all crawl back in our caves and cuddle up to a hot toddy for another week.
It's been a long cold winter and we can't wait to start exploring the Potomac! Three Sisters here we come!!
