Moving North

17 March 2015 | Vero Beach
We left Stuart early Sunday morning. It was a calm and easy trip down the river to the ICW, current with us. We turned up the ICW and current against us not bad and then less. Around half way to Ft Pierce we had no current and then a bit against us after Ft. Pierce. It was not the way we read the tide table , but you get what you get. It is a really high and low tide so that may be why, but a great trip up. Some boat traffic but only a few left a big wake. We came into Vero and they put us on mooring 10 out near the bridge by ourselves. We sat out in the evening but realized there were lots of bugs so we went inside. Of course we didn't have the screens in until we went inside and I got lots of bites, kept me awake most of the night. David slept through it all not a bite on him. I am covered with them. So the screens are kept up and last night it was ok, only a few came in. We sprayed the screens with bug repellent to keep them out they were really small biters. Still scratching but better. I don't know why they don't bite him. We can all give our theories on that. We did get into town yesterday for a few things and today we are staying around so we can get the boat pumped out. Trying to decide when to head up through the tides for the St. Johns River. We suck at reading the tides here.
