May Bank Holiday

28 May 2019
With a bank holiday weekend we plan to spend a few days onboard. The weather forecast isn’t great however we head down the Orwell on Saturday morning with the last of the ebb tide. A reasonable sail to the Woodbridge Haven buoy before turning round for a fast sail back. With a view to spending a night on a mooring at Wrabness we head up the river Stour, strange and variable wind but pleasant none the less. Sunday morning is overcast but a slow sail back down the Stour before lunch on a mooring buoy in the Orwell, with wind gusting 20 knt and rain forecast we return to SYH before retiring to the Lightship for beer and a meal, a good nights sleep on board follows.

A Slow Start!

20 May 2019
We were pleased to have the boat back in the water before the Easter break (historically the start of the sailing season for us) but a routine engine service showed a crack in the exhaust elbow so we were not able to take advantage of the fabulous weather or four days off work! Once the repair was complete we enjoy three individual 'day sails' ; 1/ Motored to the Orwell Bridge, picked up a mooring buoy for lunch before drifting back on the genoa. 2/ Slow sail to Parkeston again picking up a buoy for lunch before returning under sail. 3/ Pleasant sail to Wrabness, lunch on 'Novella' and a reasonable sail back (although we ended up motoring the last mile).

Spring 2019

27 March 2019
After a fantastic sailing season last year it seems to have been a long winter. However, most of the boaty jobs have been completed and launch day is only a couple of weeks away.

Sealand

01 October 2018
Trying to tick off another destination before the onset of winter we head out to Roughs Tower; sun and a gentle breeze gives us one of the best ‘day sails’ of the year.

Back to SYH to eat on the lightship and then spend the night onboard.
