Day 1 here we go

06 November 2006 | Kaskaskia River Lock
John / Rain and Cool
Dreary, Chilly, Slow would all be words to describe our first day. We got away on time but it was very slow going through St. Louis and below. Lots of tugs working today . We had to run slow to keep from waking them. We made our minimum destination, the floating lock wall on the Kaskaskia River around 2:15pm. I was hoping to get about 50 miles more. Didn?? t see the sun all day and rained on us 90% of the time. Not to worry we kept dry and warm except when Charlene had to go out and tend to the fenders. I wanted to do it for her so bad but have to stay at the helm. We will be up early tomorrow to get a start on the next day!!
