Heading Offshore --- FINALLY

We left Dataw Island Marina around 9:30 am, just after Robert's meeting.

We pass by Morgan Island; also called Monkey Island. There are 4,000 Rhesus monkeys on the island. They are used for experiments , and the island is Government property. I scan the entire shoreline of the island through the binoculars, and not ONE monkey did I see.

We motor to St. Helena Sound and head out to sea--- We raise the jib and the main-- reefed x2.
It's pretty rough and lumpy for about an hour, then things settle down.

Seas are 2-3 ft. and the winds are SW around. 10 knots.

We motorsail all morning, averaging 6.5 knots. Robert conducts business from the helm.

Lunch for Robert is, once again a turkey wrap. String cheese and fruit. I 'm having crackers-- no seasickness but don't want to tempt fate.

After lunch we pick up a little speed-- at times over 8 knots.

We arrive at Charleston Inlet around 4:30 pm. We decide since we are making such good time to press on to Georgetown, even though it will be close 11:00 pm when we reach the inlet. We've transitted this area in the dark before, so feel ok about heading in that late.

Dinner is cheese stick and crackers for me; salami, cheese and chips for Robert----- he's the chef tonight!!

We made it through the inlet with no problems. Winyah Bay is calm tonight ( or should I say this MORNING )!!!

We finally arrive in Georgetown at 1:30 am. We tie up to the city dock despite the " no overnight docking" signs everywhere. Robert says it's NOT overnight--- it's same day! Guess he has a point!

Time for a little shut eye before doing this again.
