We left our anchorage at 6:30 am. It's a little chilly this morning. Robert loves it; me, not so much. I don my jacket ; may need to grab a blanket too.
The wind is blowing about 10 knots, but on the nose. We cross the line into NC before. 7 am,
I take the helm for a couple of hours while Robert works.
We make it to Southport around 11:00, and into the Cape Fear river soon after.
We fight a 15 knot wind (on the nose) and a 3 knot current for hours. At one point we made less than 3 knots. UGH!!!!
Lunch is leftover chicken and potatoes.
Once out of the river, we pick up some speed. We're now able to raise the jib, so we're making 6 knots.
Dinner is white bean chicken chili. Really hit the spot on this cool evening.
We drop the hook just off the ICW close to Topsail in Sloop Creek. As we are anchoring, a very nice young man approaches in his boat. We enjoyed chatting with him for a bit. He's gonna be racing in Pirates on the Pungo this weekend ( our old stomping grounds). We enjoy a cocktail while sharing sailing stories.
After the young mans ' departure, Robert and I head inside for a little TV before bed.
Lights out at 10:30 pm--- good night!!
