The good with the bad

Yesterday was another gereat day. Joe pulled in another Mahi Mahi. Experience counts as this time it was 46 inches long & far more than we could eat.

George / humid & windy
Yesterday was another gereat day. Joe pulled in another Mahi Mahi. Experience counts as this time it was 46 inches long & far more than we could eat.

Last night the winds picked up and both shifts saw a lot of 11 knot boat speed and even 12 plus.

Today it looks like 20 foot seas. Squals early. Difficult to find a dry spot on the boat. Emailed ahead for a slip for Monday and Tuesday night. It would be nice to be able to turn on the a/c and dry the boat out. Rick wants a hot shower.

Looks like the sea is telling us that our time is up and time for us to make our habour. ETA is 2:00 a.m. at Tortola.

Still no UFO or sharkapus sightings.

Surf's up!

It is now clear to me how the boats in the Caribbean 1500 sailed so fast. We regularly saw 10 knots last night and even 11 knots once. Sweet.

308 miles from Tortola with an expected ETA of 3:00 am. Everyone is looking forward to everyone else taking a shower when we get there.

PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALISON!!!

The weather got a little snotty last night. All night shifts experienced rain, wind gusts to 25 and winds shifts of 180 degrees making everyone happy when their shift was over. When the sun came up, we could see that the swells where in the nine foot range. An impressive sight. Cool to see the flying fish flit from wave peak to wave peak.

The seas began to calm and the the day has returned to the norm for out trip – nothing short of fantastic starting with Joe catching our first fish of the trip – a Mahi Mahi – which we promptly ate for lunch. There is something special about fresh Mahi Mahi. It tastes like steak when grilled fresh. Never would have guessed that. And then there was the one that got away and as you can expect, it was really big.

Much of the day we scooted along at better than eight knots which is fast for Widow Maker. We are motivated to sail fast as there is a storm system headed our way that we are trying to get out of the way of. We expect to arrive in the BVI's on Sunday thereby avoiding the storm.

Currently Larry is preparing our Thanksgiving dinner. Smells great. Thank you Jesse!!!

We have so much to be thankfull for.
