What fun we had in Dominica with all our OCC friends that we had not seen all winter and particularly fun for CHW to meet them. We had a rousing sail up the coast, happy that the seas and wind were on our stern quarter. This boat does well with wind and seas back there, no matter how large! Martin gave us his usual interesting tour of the Indian River fora and fauna and into the syndicate forest where we actually saw a parrot in a tree!
From there we sailed over to the Saintes to give CHW a taste of France. Met our 'weather group' friends for delicious french pizzas ashore for dinner. The next day was a healthy walk up the hill to the Fort which earned a lovely lunch at the Saladerie with naps after!
Still on a tear, we set sail for a gorgeous sail to Point a Pitre where we would leave CHW to fly home. One gorgeous sail, which rarely happens on that leg! Fun evening in the marina for dinner and off he went, boo hoo.
After haircuts (!), we anchored out to relax and wait for the wind to abate and then headed to Marie Gallant, a Guadeloupe island that we had never visited. Once ashore the next day with Maggie and Al from Sweet Dreams, we discovered an almost abandoned town due to Carnival where everyone had gone to the main Bourg for the festivities. We had a lovely lunch and quiet walk with a few photo ops of families yet to join the group.
Reading Chris Parker's forecast, we opted to move to get to Antigua, so off we ant to Deshais, again with a lovely sail. Cearing customs and connecting with First Light in the harbor, but neglecting to see another boat, moonrise, that had friends from Prouts aboard, Jan and John Meck! We discovered this the next am as we were leaving the harbor and Ann & John spotted one another!
