January update
04 February 2012 | Bequia
Ann Willauer; sunny, windy with squalls
We returned from the frozen North on 1/12 in Marigot Bay, St Lucia. All was in order, so we moved up to Rodney Bay to visit with friends and provision. Sister boat, Windara, J-46, came in with Elsa and Glenn Gustafson from Chicago and several of our Trinidad pals were around. Once sorted out we had a lovely, speedy sail to Bequia via The Pitons and St Vincent with fresh 20 knots from the NE. Once tucked into Admiralty Bay, Peter and Carol on Eight Bells arrived to join us. Ben and Amanda flew in on 1/20 and spent 3 days in a charming guest house on Friendship Bay and then joined us on BreezingUp for a week. The winds were not going to abate, so the sun was shining and the beaches and swimming beckoned, not to mention the 4 day Jazz Festival featuring Arturo Tappin a well know Caribbean Jazz Saxophone musician. The London Blues Band from the Mustique Festival was here, so Jazz, steel pans, blues, reggae and rock; all in one fun filled weekend. Bequia has a lot to offer ashore with walks, hikes, lovely people, charming atmosphere and terrific restaurants; not a bad place to while away the winter. Ben and Amanda left rested and tanned. Chip arrives next week...finally we will move the boat....
