Today actually "everything" worked according to plan..
I got to custom and got the crate trough in less then 3 hours...
- Now if you have never done this , this would have been quite the trip ...
Anyway, customs in Antigua is a very delicate dance between written regulations and the Caribbean idea of live in general......you encounter all kind of different officials and workers...and somehow (if you get it all right) it will work out..
There is the broker ( who has all the connections), the helper (that does "nothing" else then running around with your paper and makes sure you sign at the correct place), the people in dress up shirts with a tie ( still don't know what they do - but one of them also touched my papers at one point ..) and then finally the costumes officers in there white shirts with the absolute power. ( He will not accept your paper if it's not stapled together in the correct ORDER..)
Anyway - it all worked out - the stuff in my crate seemed just to be to much for the officer today = opening the crate is it took :-)
Anyway - it got load on a little pickup truck and off we where ....
As you can see, the boat is till in the secured yard - but hopefully this will change tomorrow ....
PS- the guy in the "dress" is painting the neighbors boat.....now way I would want to paint a boat myself .....

Well... I arrived in Antigua today - to find out that the boat has not been moved to the yard yet = I won't be able to work on it this Sunday - darn ..:-) ( I can get out of the secured storage area - but it's kind of hard to get in - now thinking about this after 3 beer's - this actually makes "perfect" sense .......)
Anyway- I have a long "do do list" for the next 10 (now only 9) days
Today I talked to a fellow sailor who has been in the water for 2 month's and still is fixing things ???? - At this point, let's just call him the [lazy guy] but it made me wonder about my own schedule between now and Jan 25th ???
Bottom line: EVERYTHINGl IS GOOD!
