Jill is cleaning the floor again ????
Georg

it was movie night .. Jill selected Dream Catcher .... Shorty after starting the movie I was watching by myself- to scary for Betts so she went outside on deck.. Jill at one point started cleaning the floor and 'complaining' about the dusty floor in the boat (Anybody who knows Jill knows this would not be considered unusual) Then again later in the Movie she started again cleaning the floor ... At this point, I might raised my eyebrows a bit .. but still this was not considered 'too' unusual in my book .... .. I really liked the movie :-) Towards the end of the movie Jill AGAIN started cleaning the floors ??????.. Now that started to look a bit suspicious .. But I needed to finish the Movie! I really liked the movie ! .. At the end we turned the light on and Jill put some of my cruising books on the table with a comment about how dusty they where .. Now when I touched them I knew something was not right ..THEY WHERE COVERED IN FINE DUST (For those of you that have been to the desert- that's the kind of stuff we are talking about = it will NOW stay with the boat FOREVER.
Turns out Montserrat dropped a dust cloud just above our Anchorage :-( :-(
- see picture of the boat in the morning
NOT A HAPPY DAY:-( :-( :-( :-(:-( :-(:-( :-(
But it sure makes for a good story :-)

Snorkeling around Pigeon island...
Georg

We 'wasted' most of the day catching up on e-mail .. (not the blog as my computer should stay on the boat) After we had lunch and got back on the boat we decided to go back to Pigeon island across the bay for some more snorkeling (you have to try to stay in shape ..) Jill 'made' me snorkel all the way around BOTH islands ... Probably + 1 Nm ... By the time we were back on the boat it was too late to get to [Basse Terre] but we made it to [Anse a la Barque] Anchoring seemed difficult as the Anchor didn't set 100% in 5-7m of muddy water ( must be a hard bottom) Tomorrow we are supposed to getup early and 'sail' to Iles the Saintes an Island group about 12Nm miles south of Guadeloupe (still French Territory) Winds are predicted 10-15knots for tomorrow ...but we will be protected most of the time by the island of Guadeloupe.... Probably lots of Motor Sailing :-(

Snorkeling at Cousteau Underwater Park

What Snorkeling spot indeed.. We had some initial issues grabbing the buoy ending up in me having to jump after the hook because of some miss communication between crew and skipper :-) ....(the buoys are on a super short rope= if you don't get it dead on you won't be able to pull it up ..)

Sailing all day long.....
Georg

We left Carlies Bay about 2 Hours later then expected short after 7AM (.... the crew finally got some sleep in the morning....) Sailed all day with 12-18 Knots coming as predicted mostly from E-NE... it got a bit rougher at the end as the wind picked up around Guadeloupe with some good swells hitting us broad side. To easy things, we put a reef in for the last 6-8 NM (we needed to practice reefing with the crew anyway) Arrived earlier then expected around 2PM, but we clocked some unexpected 7-8 Knots SOG for a at least a few hours :-)
