Your adventures are addicting! Stay safe and, Georg, have a great birthday today! Jill, your photos are gorgeous. I am envious.

BTW my dad had a bad skiing accident (broke an arm and a leg -- he's in the hospital and your mom has to do everything for herself now. Fortunately, they are loved by many in Ashland.)

03/17/2010, South Grenada

We left Carriacou early around 6:30a.m. sailed out between the Islands ....crossing towards Grenada we decided to go the Atlantic side to get more wind and avoid 'motor sailing'. It was nice going with wind and current. A bit wilder, rougher, lots of current. In a wild part as I was laying down about to snooze (as I slept 2 hrs the night before-many who know me know I don't sleep much) knowing Georg had it all under control.....I heard something and said 'that doesn't seem right'. Georg said what? It's fine. Not noticing something I did notice. The head sail started flapping. Georg looked up and saw that it was not attached any more. We quickly turned into the wind and brought it down on deck.
we lost a shackle of the head furling system. We put up a spare halyard (halyard for second head sail) temporarily. And we couldn't roll it up as we came in.
Crazy....then in the winds and rolls Georg had to climb the mast to repair.....fun

Going South
Jill
03/16/2010, Carriacou

It's Tuesday March 16th and we are in Carriacou on our 'race' down to Grenada to pick up Pam and crew. We spent the last few nights and days at The Tobago Cays.......snorkeling :-). I saw rays, a Spotted Eagle Ray, more Flying Gunaurds, Peacock Flounders, Turtles, A Devil Scorpion Fish!!! and so on :-)

Not much time at the moment so just a quick catch up. We'll be spending the night here and tomorrow night Grenada at our pick up area (South).

We just decided to go down the Atlantic side! Bigger winds, swells,...faster time....yikes! The whole day to sail from Carriacou to Grenada and then down all of Grenada to the south point.

Check in later~

Sailing from Bequia to Canouan
Jill
03/13/2010, Canouan ,Charlestown Bay

It was a wild, white cap, Big swell sail!

Oh! and the night before we did the night sail! Left Rodney Bay around midnight and missed St. Vincent ~ Arrived in Bequia around 1p.m.
First all night sail~ Sweet:-) (I slept a lot....meaning Georg can do this totally by himself!!) ......I did give him a break in the early morning to sleep ....and did it by myself!!

Very Cool. the photo is beautiful. No way am I doing that at night. Heck, I'm not sure if I want to be a boat unless it's about 300' long....
Very cool.
Getting Better

03/13/2010, Canouan, between Corbay and Rameau bay

So we are at Charlestown Bay in Canouan. We just anchored after spending the day snorkeling at Corbay/Rameau Bay or the outcropping between. It was the best so far!!! Two Octopus were too busy procreating to notice me~awesome.... of course ....battery dead in camera. Then I took Georg back to see and we also saw a big spotted eagle ray so close and calm. I was in heaven. But no photos:-(
It is also a more pleasant hot not the intense melting humid HOT HOT HOT. ~(Georg is even trying to be nicer to me...I hope he means it, cares, continues:-)
Tomorrow we sail to Tobago Keys for a few days
17th/ 18th/19th Grenada to pick up Pam,Scott,Sage, and Tara then back up this a way :-)
